Winchester City Mill
Step back in time at one of Winchester’s most fascinating landmarks. Winchester City Mill is believed to be the oldest working water mill in Britain and sits right on the beautiful River Itchen in the heart of the city. Inside you’ll find the historic mill, a lovely café, a peaceful island garden and a cosy bookshop, making it a great place to spend an hour or two. A mill has stood here since at least Saxon times, with records dating back to 932 AD. The site may even have been home to an earlier Roman mill, making it a place packed with over 1,000 years of history.
